Course Description:
The primary goals of these courses is to introduce educators to the Math Common Core State Standards and to assist educators in becoming effective classroom teachers, by using materials, pedagogical techniques, and appropriate tools to teach with the Math Common Core State Standards. These classes will focus on the implementation of higher-order thinking skills to students in elementary, middle school and high school mathematics classrooms. In addition to Common Core State Standards, these courses will enhance content knowledge in ways that conform to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) standards. Educators will examine strategies and skills to engage creatively mathematics students and master teaching techniques appropriate for the implementation of the Math Common Core State Standards.

Course Requirements: | Participating teachers may take up to nine months to complete all requirements. There are no scheduled class sessions or meetings. All work is to be submitted through the Moodle e-learning platform. Please refer to the courses syllabi for further information on the course requirements. |
Course Topics: | Course topics include but not limited to: History and Overview of Common Core Math State Standards, Introduction to Common Core State Standards for Math, Revision of current lessons to be Common Core State Standard appropriate, and Creating and designing module lessons to implement the Common Core State Standards in Math. |
